Wind direction matters more than reputation
A beach that works in one wind can become unsafe in another. Offshore wind increases the risk of being carried away; gusty wind near buildings or cliffs can destabilize a kite. Local schools select sites after reading the actual forecast and launch space.

Lessons and rental
Beginners need qualified instruction. Kitesurfing students must learn safety systems, self-rescue, right of way and controlled launching. Equipment size must match body weight and wind. Rental without verified ability may not be available.
Season and water temperature
Wind opportunities occur across seasons, but water remains cold enough to require an appropriate wetsuit and sometimes additional protection. Summer beaches also have more swimmers, so designated zones and local instructions are essential.
Wildlife and shared water
Never sail toward whales, sea lions or bird concentrations. Keep clear of boats, swimmers and fishing gear. High speed magnifies the consequences of a poor distance decision.
When arranging these activities, I treat the school’s site choice as part of the service. A preselected postcard beach is less important than clean wind, a safe launch and rescue support.
